TOUR
The Al Andalus Golden Heritage series tour is an educational tour tailor made to offer the students a general overview of Al Andalus, the golden ages of Islam in Spain, by the hand of local scholars and professionals.
There is no better way to get immersed in the historical context of Al Andalus than by visiting the key places presented in this tour, and interacting with the local Muslim community sharing the present and the future of the Muslims in Spain, a journey full of lessons of great value for the Muslim youth.
This tour is a proposal/example than can be adjusted to specific areas of study or it can even be schedule to fit the different needs of the student groups.
Extra special activities in the tour, lectures:
- Meeting with local Spanish community in Seville and Granada.
- Tour and presentation at the Central Mosque of Granada and Seville.
- Master lecture by Ustaz Hajj Abdel Ghani Melara, Imam Khatib at Seville`s Mosque.
- Lunch at the Central Mosque of Granada.
Monuments visited:
- Alhambra Palace and Generalife, Royal Alcazars, Old Mosque of Cordoba, Madinat Al Zahra. The Alcazaba.

Madrid
- Arrival at Madrid´s airport.
- Welcoming and Tour presentation.
- Visit of Las Ventas bullring, take some pictures. Visit of Santiago Bernabeu (Real Madrid Stadium) and Real Madrid`s official store. Continuation of the tour in the city center of Madrid, Plaza de Sol, Gran Via avenue, Castellana avenue and Cibeles Fountain by bus. Dinner.

Madrid
- Arrival at Madrid´s airport.
- Welcoming and Tour presentation.

- Breakfast.
- Transfer to Toledo, morning tour of Toledo, Parador viewpoint, Plaza del Zocodover. etc. Lunch. Transfer to Cordoba. Check in at Hotel. Dinner.
- Overnight in Cordoba.
Day 2
Cordoba
- Breakfast.
- Theme: Introduction to the Ummayad ruling period in Al Andalus, lessons around the pinnacle of Islamic civilization, a time of religious and social coexistence and harmony , Cordoba as the center of knowledge in the world.
- Morning tour of the Old quarters of Cordoba, Old Mosque of Cordoba and Royal Stables, Roman bridge. Lunch. Visit of Madinat Az Zahra Museum. Rest of the afternoon free and easy. Dinner.
- Overnight in Cordoba
Day 3
Cordoba
- Breakfast.
- Theme: Introduction to the Ummayad ruling period in Al Andalus, lessons around the pinnacle of Islamic civilization, a time of religious and social coexistence and harmony , Cordoba as the center of knowledge in the world.
- Morning tour of the Old quarters of Cordoba, Old Mosque of Cordoba and Royal Stables, Roman bridge. Lunch. Visit of Madinat Az Zahra Museum. Rest of the afternoon free and easy. Dinner.
- Overnight in Cordoba
Day 3
Cordoba, Seville
- Breakfast.
- Theme: General contextualization of Islam in Al Andalus, Seville as the center of commerce at the time.
- Transfer to Seville (1:30’). Morning visit of the Guadalquivir river area. Torre del Oro, Giralda Tower. Tour of the Royal Alcazars. Lunch. Salat al Ask at Seville`s Masjid, meet with local Muslim Community, brief presentation of the activities and projects of the Spanish Muslim Community of Seville. Master class By Ustaz Hajj Abdel Ghani Melara, Translator of the Quran into Spanish among others, Imam Khatib of Seville`s Mosque.
- Free and easy. Dinner.

Day 4
Cordoba, Seville
- Breakfast.
- Theme: General contextualization of Islam in Al Andalus, Seville as the center of commerce at the time.

- Morning tour of the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens, the most sophisticated Castle ever built by the Muslims at the time. Lunch at the Mosque. Afternoon visit of the Albaycin neighborhood (World heritage site) old Muslim quarters and the central Mosque of Granada with a special Tour presentation of the Mosque, meeting with the local Spanish Community. After Salatul Asr sharing of conclusions with students about their experience and learning of the history of Al Andalus.
- Dinner.
- Overnight in Granada.
Day 6
Granada
- Breakfast.
- Theme: The Nasrid dinasty, the rise and fall of Islam in Al Andalus. The last Kingdom of Al Andalus.
- Morning tour of the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens, the most sophisticated Castle ever built by the Muslims at the time. Lunch at the Mosque.
